Writing

Learning to speak, read and write well are crucial for children and young
people’s success in education, life and work.

(Writing Framework 2025)

At Bingham Primary School we develop our pupils to be enthusiastic writers. We have created a bespoke curriculum designed to provide children with all the tools they require to become competent writers.

Children explore the four main purposes of writing: to inform, to persuade, to entertain, and to express feelings.

Throughout the school, children will have opportunities to be involved in every stage of the writing process: planning, drafting, editing and publishing.

Children will be encouraged to improve their writing, considering increasing interest to the reader, using a rich vocabulary and different methods of presentation.

Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS) and Handwriting are taught as discrete lessons and as part of the writing in all subjects. EYFS and KS1 follow the Little Wandle Handwriting scheme.
