Imaginations take flight thanks to homebuilders storytelling event
A leading homebuilder has helped spark young imaginations at Bingham Primary School with an interactive storytelling session in celebration of World Storytelling Day (20th March).
David Wilson Homes invited professional storyteller Mark Fraser to visit the school, where he spent the afternoon captivating pupils with a series of engaging and interactive stories.
Across two 30-minute sessions, Mark brought stories to life for children across all year groups. Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage One, and Key Stage Two classes enjoyed narratives tailored to their curriculum, encouraging creativity, imagination, and active participation.
The sessions included juggling, balancing, and plenty of interaction and laughter.
Sara Pask, Headteacher said: “The children loved their storytelling session and even asked for more. We are promoting a love of reading and so this supported us to do this. We are grateful to David Wilson Homes for giving us the opportunity.”
World Storytelling Day celebrates the enduring tradition of verbal storytelling, connecting communities and sharing wisdom through shared tales. Held annually around 20th March, storytellers worldwide deliver themed performances both online and in person for audiences of all ages.
Bingham Primary School was selected for the workshop due to its close proximity to David Wilson Homes’ Romans’ Quarter development on Chapel Lane in Bingham.
Rachael Harrison, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “By collaborating with storytellers like Mark Fraser, we aim to inspire children, encourage creativity, and develop a lifelong love for reading and stories.
“We hope the pupils at Bingham Primary School enjoyed the storytelling event and found it to be an exciting and educational session that furthered their literacy skills.”
